Kevin Reilly was living a charmed life. He had fulfilled his lifelong dream of playing in the NFL, for his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. Then, a rare tumor in his shoulder had him undergo a radical amputation and put an end to his professional football career.
Ultimately, the foundation of faith, family, friends, and fortitude developed during his childhood and athletic development helped sustain Kevin through the crushing end to his dreams, the battle to live, and his long running recovery.
You will laugh, cry, and be inspired by Kevin’s deep faith and incredible resilience. While football fans will certainly enjoy the ride, this book is mainly about life and overcoming the challenges that most of us face at one time or another.

Kevin Reilly's book " Tackling Life " is truly an inspirational and
thought provoking book. Capturing the late 1950's and 60's when kids
played the Big 3 sports and dreamed of being a major leaguer his dream
of playing for Philadelphia Eagles came true. The book shows the highs
and lows of his fight with desmoid cancer and the loss of of his left
arm and shoulder. Fighting off much adversity he uses his Catholic faith as a compass and his humility to stay grounded. Kevin's giving back to
others like visits to Walter Reed Hospital give the book a positive
Myself having gone to the 1967 Sallies vs Middletown game he gave a keen perspective to the match up and brought back good old memories. I once read a quote by Bishop Fulton Sheen who said " A man can accomplish anything if does not feel sorry for himself. That what Kevin's book taught me. I am most glad his family life endured all the years. Love the Dick Vermeil quote.
